Aloha, all!
Don't faint – this really is the third post in as many days! It's also the last time I'll bring your attention to any streak I may be on as the holiday season progresses!
For today's project, I used some more stamps from the Stampin' Up! Get Your Santa On Stamp Set. This is one set that I deliberated about a bit when I was deciding what to order from this year's Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. But as I kept going back and forth through the catalog, I found myself stopping to look more closely at these stamps more often the closer I got to finalizing my order. Oh, what the heck! It looked cute and easy to color in, so why not.
And as I started through the layout sketches from my 2010 eBook, I decided that this layout would be perfect for these particular stamps from that set. I added in some papers from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack, and I really liked the result! If you happen to have these papers in your collection, you might be wondering how I managed to use the paper with the little chevron design in a wide format. For those of you who don't have the paper, the size of the paper is 4-1/2" by 6-1/2", with the line of chevrons marching across the 4-1/2" width of the papers. This layer is 5" wide. What I did was to cut two 2" strips of the paper, making sure I'd captured the same color set in both of them, and I taped them together to create a 9" strip. I cut the 5" piece so that the place where the edges meet is under the stamped image with its mat. It actually looked pretty good at the edges, but I could hide them, so I did.
The main colors in this card are Real Red and Garden Green. If you look really closely, you can see that I added in just a bit of pink on Santa's cheeks – it's just a few dots of Calypso Coral painted on with a blender pen.
Another feature of the stamp set that I really like is that some of the sentiment stamps go well together in twos. Yesterday's project showed two sentiments in the same image. For today's project, I included the "A Merry Little Wish…" on the front of the card. And inside, I included, "…For All Good Things That Christmas Brings." Oh, and the cute little Santa hat was a nice addition, don't you think?
