Aloha, all!
Finally I'm at a time of the year when it won't hurt me or anyone else if all I post about are Christmas Cards! Well, I'll be making some birthday cards as there are lots of birthdays in my circle of family and friends between now and Christmas. I may even share some here with you. But I am SO ready to start showing off Christmas Cards in earnest.
My first card for this fun effort is one I CASEd (Copy And Share with Everyone) from one of Stampin' Up!s Million Dollar Sales demonstrators, Linda Bauwin. When demonstrators reach that milestone, one of their recent perks is to help Stampin' Up! develop a new stamp set based on their interests. Linda's stamp set is called, Half Full, and is featured in the Stampin' Up! 2017 Holiday Catalog. Linda made a Waterfall Card with her set that I had to stop everything and go make for myself!
OK, I'm sure you can't see the Half Full Stamp Set in this photo. But I'll be showing that off before I write too many more sentences! First, I'd like to show off one of the sheets from the gorgeous Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). The "specialty" in this set of papers is that every sheet has foil accents on it. Among the foils accent colors are Champagne, Gold, Silver and Copper. This sheet seems to have all three. But I have to tell you, I have a hard time seeing the difference between Champagne and Silver unless they're side by side, which doesn't happen in this sheet. And It's really not important. I chose to use Gold as my accent color for the rest of the card, beginning with the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape that I ran across the bar near the bottom of the card. I LOVE this washi tape, with the same foll accents as in the DSP.
The stamped and embossed (with Gold) snowflakes are from two different stamp sets. The large snowflake is from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set, and the smaller flakes in lines at the bottom of the other two layers of this waterfall card are from the Merry Cafe Stamp Set. I love it when I can find just what I want in a stamp set where I didn't expect to fine it!
Here, then, are the flips that appear in the waterfall card when you pull the ribboned tab down from the card. The first flip (at the left) has a row of wine glasses colored to look somewhat like they're filled with white wine. The words, embossed in white just above it is one of the fun quotes from this set – made perfect when paired with the words above the second flip panel (at the right) that explain the glasses filled with red wine. If it's too small for you to read, they say, "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas." And then, "But if the white runs out, I'll drink red." My sentiments exactly! And what a perfect set of stamps and words for a waterfall card.
Everything that I stamped on this card is heat-embossed. The snowflakes and wine classes are embossed in Gold and the words are embossed in White. I prefer to emboss items stamped onto colored cardstock. I rarely stamp onto colored cardstock unless it's for a watermark-style image or some background. So I keep a good stock of embossing powder on hand.
