I have to tell you from the start that this is not my typical blog post. Oh, it's "paper crafting" in a way, but not completely. You see, this week is a light work week for me, and I'm taking the time to catch up on some projects I've been neglecting. Most of those are scrapbooking, and all of them involve working with Project Life.
For those of you who've never heard of Project Life, it's a way of scrapbooking things that go on all through the year using pocket pages for photos, journaling, and embellishments. I dabble in it enough to know I really like it, but I don't spend enough time on it to do it justice. Today I learned a whole new way to capture my memories with Project Life – going Digital! OK, digital Project Life has been around for a while now. But just today I jumped in to see what it's really like. Oh, man, was the ease with which I made two pages an eye-opener!
To begin, I actually made two pages (one pocket sheet, front and back) to capture some photos and memories of two events in which my Family and Community Education (FCE) Club has been involved. But they are 12" x 12", to fit in an album that's ongoing with the group. But I really wanted to share what I've done with the group's members now rather than at the next meeting. With my light work schedule this week, I decided to find out more about the digital version.
It. Is. So. Easy. Now, having said that, you do have to have some rudimentary understand of how to use Photoshop Elements (the easy version of Photoshop). The good news is that the Becky Higgins websites have lots of videos to help you with this. And they helped me immensely today!
The basic concept is that you can buy and download Photoshop templates and insert your own photos and journaling. Since I have that rudimentary knowledge of how to use Photoshop Elements, and I have a copy of the program already on my computer, I only had to go through a couple of videos. If you're starting from scratch, you may need a few more. But once you get the hang of this, the sky's the limit!
These two pages have only photos and journaling. But there are also ways to embellish your pages, including with stamps (stamp brushes in Digital talk), to make them sparkle a bit more than these fairly plain pages do.

If you already have Photoshop Elements, and you're interested in digital scrapbooking, I'd advise you to try out the free started kit that the Project Life folks have on their site. Then I'd definitely go check out all the Stampin' Up! digital kits available. You'll have great fun with it!
