Aloha, all!
I recently saw a group of cards made with a window on the front of the card through which I looked at at image that’s on the inside of a card. These cards had one or two layers on the card front and looked easy enough to make. So off I went to try it out.
Of course, I had to try to do one better. I wanted a piece of Designer Series Paper in between two white cardstock layers. This got to be a bit tricky when I went to cut the oval opening AFTER I’d glued all the layers together. The thing to do with many layers is first cut the top layer. Glue it to the next layer, and place the die inside the already cut layer to cut through the next layer. Repeat for the third layer. I’m not sure how many layers this works for, but three was all I needed for this, so that’s where I stopped.
Besides making a window card, I also wanted to use my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to color the picture. They color everything stamped with Memento Jet Black Ink SOOOOO smoothly. The Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends would be perfect for the gorilla, along with the Ivory Stampin’ Blend Marker for the face, tummy and hands. For the Designer Paper layer, I wanted something a bit more romantic looking than the color series papers available this year. After all, this IS a Valentine Card! I loved the look of this sheet of paper from the Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. But, as there’s not yet a set of Melon Mambo markers, out came my Real Red Dark Stampin’ Blend Marker for the little heart he’s holding. (By the way – “he” can be a “she” if you’re sending the card to someone of the masculine persuasion.)
Later this week I’ll share some more cards I made with the Hey Love stamp set that includes this cute gorilla. Until then, I hope you’re making some progress in creating and sending Valentine cards out to your besties! If you’d like to buy something that I used to make this card, by all means, click on one of the icons below to be whisked away to my very own Stampin’ Up! store to buy it!
