Aloha, all!
I am just so grateful that finally my life has reached the point where I can do more about paying attention to other people than to the work of getting myself situated into normalcy. I’ve been trying to make sure that I get out to see local friends more often – though not often enough! But now, I can pay more attention to my far away friends by sending notes and cards.
Some of the cards I’ve shared recently are going out to friends just to catch up with them. But this week, I’m focusing on getting back into the practice of sending birthday cards. Oh, I always send them to my grandkids and other family members. But there are so many other people whom I want to celebrate when their day comes along. Sure, I can send a Facebook greeting. But cards is what I do, so I want to send cards!
Here is the first design for Spring birthday cards. I know there’s a lot of winter weather left. But Spring really is just around the corner – less than two weeks! So bring on the pastels!
The colors for these two cards are Balmy Blue on the left and Highland Heather on the right. Both of these colors are new to Stampin’ Up! and both are in the basic color groups (they’re in the Subtles family of colors). So they’ll be around for a few years, at least. What made these cards fun to make is that both the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions Catalog and the 2019 Sale-a-Bration Brochure had coordinating papers and ribbons in these colors. The bad news is that, once again, those beautiful ribbons have sold out and are no longer available. I can only hope that Stampin’ Up! sees how much we like this kind of ribbon, and may come up with some in a future catalog. It won’t be these colors. But there are tons of great Stampin’ Up! colors.
Besides the colors that I really like about these cards is the Amazing Life Stamp Set, also in the Occasions Catalog. There are so many beautiful images for all kinds of cards. That Four-Leaf Clover that I used in last Sunday’s post is from this set, too!
To color the cake and the word, “Cake,” I used Stampin’ Blends. I just love the way those colors blend the dark into the light colors. I’m really enjoying coloring these days!
Now back to my work table to make some more cards, using another design. I’m starting with a blank slate, so I have no hints about what’s coming!
I hope you are enjoying your stamping as much as I am. And I hope you’ll be interested in buying some of the fun Stampin’ Up! products that I’ve used in this project. Just click on a link below to jump over to my own Stampin’ Up! store and learn more about that product – and buy it!
