Aloha, all!
Today is my baby brother's 50th birthday! I cannot believe he's 50! Of course, I can't believe how old I am either. But today's not my birthday so I don't have to worry about that at the moment.
A card by fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Mary Brown (of Create with Connie and Mary fame – check out preview week starting tomorrow!), was the inspiration for this birthday card. Her card was made with smaller balloons and there were more than the 5 on my card. I needed the numbers from the Sizzix Typeset Alphabet Bigz die to fit on the balloons, so they had to be larger. The Large Oval Punch worked just fine for my card, and I used the four-petal flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to make the open end of the balloons.
The greeting is from the Sassy Salutations Stamp Set, and I added two Rhinestone Basic Jewels at the clipped ends of the greeting layer for just a touch more of elegance. I hand drew the strings attached to the balloons as I needed the strings to be longer than any stamp I had.
A fun card, and it would be good for any kind of birthday – all you'd have to do is change the colors. I just thought black and white with Silver Glimmer Paper is appropriate for a milestone birthday such as this one!
So Happy Birthday, Jim, and I wish many happy returns for you!
What a nifty 50 card!
Hi Robin, I just joined SU family, and and found your blog through pinterest. I love your cards and hope to have a blog looking good as yours one day. I been blogging for about 4 years now. But now that I'm trying to make it look more professional and inviting,it hasn't been easy. TFS
Robin, what an awesome 50th birthday card! I have had a hard time making cute 50th birthday cards, but I won't any longer! Thanks so much for sharing this idea with us.
