Aloha, all!
For the most part, I don't buy much in the way of Halloween stamps because they tend to have a limited time in which to use them. So I rely on sets that cover multiple holidays and make projects from the few Halloween stamps in them.
Imagine my delight when the September 2015 My Paper Pumpkin kit had a Halloween Stamp set in it! While I mostly like to share projects made with stamps that you can purchase from Stampin' Up! through my website, I just can't resist showing off some of the projects that I made with this fun stamp set.
For this card, I used two of the stamps in the set – the cute little witch hat and the "Happy Haunting" sentiment.
One of the things I like to do is take small stamps like the hat stamp and line them up in a grid with one of the stamps in the grid being different in some way. In the case of this card, the sentiment itself is different, and I also changed the color.
Now, how do I get those hats all lined up like that? I use my MISTI tool. No, it's not a Stampin' Up! tool, but it makes working/playing with my Stampin' Up! products SOOOO much easier when I want to line something up perfectly! Oh, it even helps when I manage to stamp an image and find that I didn't get the ink evenly all over the stamp. Even with this little hats, several did not turn out perfectly – so I was able just to stamp them again and you cannot tell which ones were stamped twice – one three times! If you want more information about the MISTI, check out the reviews and more information on Split Coast Stampers.
Meanwhile, let me tell you about the rest of the products I used for this card. First there's that lovely Basic Black 3/8" Stitched Satin ribbon that's so perfect for Halloween cards! I wasn't sure I wanted to use it – maybe just show off the hats? But then I realized that I really do like some kind of interesting embellishment on most cards. So on went the ribbon.
The paper in the background, showing off just a bit of some creepy, crawly critter at the edge, is from the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper set in the Stampin' Up! 2015 Holiday Catalog. Love this whole paper set, but this sheet is a treasure – sorry I had to hide so much of it!
The cardstock in the background, as well as the ink for the sentiment, are both Cajun Craze. I personally like a bit more darkness in my Halloween projects, so use Cajun Craze for fall projects for the most part.
Now off to make some more fund projects with the Paper Pumpkin stamps!
