Aloha, all!
While taking a break from CASEing the new Stampin' Up! Catalog, I decided to try out some of the new Sizzix Framelits sets that are being offered by Stampin' Up! Today I'm sharing an old, but still current, stamp set along with a brand new color, and the Layering Squares Framelits.
I just LOVE the cute critters and shapes in the You're Sublime Stamp Set. What a darling toad this is, and I couldn't imagine making him any color other than green. And the new Emerald Envy green color was a perfect way to show this little critter off. Then, when I wondered what color I should make his spots, it didn't take long to select another of the new Stampin' Up! In Colors, Peekaboo Peach.
After that, the card sort of took on a mind of its own. For one thing, the toad looked as if he would be happiest in a square. That led me quickly into deciding to make this a square card. But then there was the "in between" part – what should I use as a mat? Aha, I had those new square framelits! So out they came. First I cut the Whisper White cardstock on which I'd stamped and colored the toad using the 2-1/4" Scalloped Square from the framelits set. The next mat just had to be the same lovely Emerald Envy as the toad, so I cut another one of the Layering Squares Framelits, this time the 2-1/2" scallop square.
Before I layered any more squares, I cut a 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock and folded it in half to make a 4-1/4" square card base. Then I cut a 4" square of an Emerald Envy sheet of the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and layered on a 3" square piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Peekaboo Peach 3/8" Ruched Ribbon around the middle of these layers and then adhered them to the card base.
Finally, I adhered the square element with the stamped layer onto the card base and its layers using Stampin' Dimensionals.
He is SOOO cute! I made this card to send to my grandson with some summer reading material that he's supposed to finish before his visit to our home later in the summer. And he, of course, is Toadally Awesome (as are all grandchildren!).
