Aloha, all!
I’ve found yet another challenge blog with design team members I’ve worked with elsewhere online over the past many years. This challenge is called “Sunday Stamps,” with a challenge beginning every other Sunday. That’s going to be one I look at often as Sunday turns out to be a day when I’m generally free to stamp to my heart’s content! And so I did this past Sunday, following the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge.
With my personal challenge to use stamp sets that I haven’t used in a while, I chose the Jar of Love Stamp Set. There are 3 different sizes of jars in this stamp set along with a whole slew of figures that can be used to stamp inside or outside the jars. My heart has always been drawn to the little fish and it was hard to get my mind of of her. But with the fish, I didn’t know what I was going to do to create a layout with 3 different patterns or layouts. Finally, as I went through my stash of Designer Series Papers, I came upon the relatively unused Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack. The Crushed Curry color in that set is almost as orange as my favorite “gold” fishes have been, so I went with that.
After that, this card started falling into place. The one thing that was tripping me up a bit was what to tie around the top of the jar. I just used Baker’s Twine that I’d colored with markers, and linen thread, either the real thing or stamped with a stamp in the set, didn’t seem to go with what I’d already stamped on the jar. Finally, the Crushed Curry 3/8″ Stitched Ribbon was just too wide for the medium sized jar I’d selected. Or was it? I had no idea what was keeping me from snipping along a length of the ribbon to make a thinner piece. Yes, it does ravel a bit, but only a bit, and those stray threads were easy to snip off after I’d tied the bow.
To add a bit more of the Pool Party blue to the card, I trimmed the top and bottom of the center horizontal rectangle with cardstock punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?
Here are all the products I featured in this card. Just click on any of them to find out more about them in my personal Stampin’ Up! store.

You know what, I think I have a lot of that Crushed Curry left, too – what a great way to use it, Robin! Goes perfect with those blue details! What a fun take on our sketch – I love that little fish! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!
Gorgeous colours on this card Robin – I do love this Jar and need to get it out and play with it a bit more. If you are on facebook why not come and join my group where we celebrate all things SU – retired or not! Its a great way of carrying on using much loved stamps – you’ll find the link on my blog.
