Aloha, all!
Yesterday I had a treat I don't often have. A fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator from the mainland, Kivonne Tucker, came to visit and we spent most of an afternoon in my craft room chatting, going through catalogs and, yes, papercrafting! I knew our time would be limited to I came up with the idea to use one of the challenges from our online Stampin' Up! group, SUDSOL, to get us started crafting and keep us on task!
As I happened to have the new Stampin' Up! punch, Elegant Butterfly, out on my table, both of us decided to use that and go from there with our own ideas. This was such a unique experience for me – to have two completely different styles come out of the same beginnings!
The first card is Kivonne's, and she was eager to use LOTS of the new products in the brand new Stampin' Up! 2012-2013 Catalog. She cut the Daffodil Delight base for the butterflies using one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. Before attaching the butterflies, Kivonne used the (also new) Essentials Paper Piercing Pack to make a pierced border inside the cut framelit.
Next up, Kivonne cut a rectangle of what I found out is her "go to" color, Cherry Cobbler. She embossed that layer with the (guess what? brand new!) Chevron Embossing Folder. What would she have done without a Sizzix Big Shot available?! Finally, Kivonne punched three butterflies, using the Elegant Butterfly Punch, out of Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, and Gumball Green card stock. She attached them to the Daffodil Delight Layer with Stampin' Dimensionals and, with a final flourish, added a Basic Rhinestone to each butterfly! Gorgeous card! And then we went out on my lanai and photographed it and we shared some tips and tricks on taking pictures and using my photo editor, Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Next up – tomorrow! – will be my card. But my message today is to try to find someone to play with in your own crafting space! It is so much fun and I wish I could do it all the time!
