Aloha, all!
Yesterday I posted a project that I made using one of my favorite – but retiring – Stampin’ Up! Colors, Soft Sky. Today, as part of a Blog Hop for a summer group to which I belong, I’ve made a card featuring a favorite color that’s NOT retiring, Calypso Coral. This color is also a favorite of one of my customers who is a frequent participant in my local card-making classes. So I know we’ll both continue having fun with it for quite some time.
My summer group is one that started eons ago as a group for those of us who might miss the summer Stampin’ Up! Conventions. We called ourselves a “Virtual Convention,” with swaps, blog hops, classes, and just general conversations about whatever we felt like. So we adopted the name, VC Rocks! These days, with the Stampin’ Up! convention schedule having changed and with the annual Stampin’ Up! Cruise now in mid-summer, we’ve decided that the VC now stands for Virtual Cruise.
Swaps start next month, but today is the first blog hop of this year, a little earlier than our usual first hop, but several of us felt like it, so here we are!
For this hop, we weren’t required to use the exact same color throughout. But that’s what I ended up doing, though there’s a bit of Powder Pink in some of the little cut-out flowers. It’s close enough!
The papers that I used are from a Designer Series Paper set in the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Occasions Catalog, Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper. The “specialty” part are the silver foil accents that you see on the piece of paper on the right of the card and the small flowers around the sentiment layer that I fussy cut to decorate the bottom right corner.
The large Rose and the sentiment are from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set, also from the Occasions Catalog. I stamped the sentiment using Calypso Coral Ink and notched the ends using the Triple Banner Punch. I colored the rose using the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. They’re not available for purchase right now, but they will be once again after the next Stampin’ Up! catalog is published.
The final products on this card – and they are definitely retiring – are the Calypso Coral Enamel Shapes. All of the enamel shapes are retiring. I’m going to miss them, but I’m also looking forward to some of the new embellishments in the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Catalog. We can’t have them all or the catalog would be the size of a big city phone book! (Do they have those any more?)
I hope you’ll stay with our little blog hop – it’s not too long, and everyone has some fun projects to share. The next stop is Nancy Keithley’s Blog. You can also go to the VC Rocks Blog to see the list of participants and visit them in any order you’d like. If you’d like to join VC Rocks, as long as you enjoy working with Stampin’ Up! products – you don’t have to be a demonstrator – just let me know by clicking the “Email Me” link up to the right, and I’ll get you signed up!
Happy stamping and happy hopping (don’t forget – the next stop is Nancy Keithley’s Blog!)
