Aloha, all!
You know by now that I rarely keep any retired Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets around in my craft room. There are exceptions, though, and those stamps that have anything to do with Hawaii or the tropics get to stick around for at least a couple of years after they retire. A stamp that I used in today's project, though, has been around for a bit longer – it has a 2005 Copyright on it!
If a stamp with the word, "Aloha," isn't going to stick around for that long, then my priorities are all messed up! The word is used here in Hawaii almost as much as (more than?) the word, "Hello." But Aloha is much more than hello – it runs a whole gamut of positive greetings from "hello" to " wish the best for you." Yes, there are other companies that make stamps with Aloha. But I do so love the quality of Stampin' Up! stamps. That this stamp has been sitting around for that long with the rubber in great shape is a testament to the quality of Stampin' Up! stamps!
I especially wanted this word on the front of this card as it's one of a set of 8 cards that I made as a hostess gift for some friends we're visiting on our island this week.
Here's the whole set, stamped envelopes and all, ready to be put into a gift box.
The little palm tree on the cards and envelopes is actually a current Stampin' Up! stamp. It's one of the many stamps in the Greetings From Photopolymer Stamp Set. No, it's not in the Stampin' Up! catalog; but it's one that's available for ordering online. It's a set that I bought to use in my Project Life scrapbook pages when I'm working on scrapbooking a trip.
I stamped the outline of the palm and colored the tops using Cucumber Crush and the trunks using Soft Suede. I imagine that these are coconut palms, so I colored the trunks with horizontal swipes.
Now about stamping 5 of these little guys on 8 cards and having them all line up. No, I'm not selling this product. But I just cannot say enough about how much easier my stamping time is with my MISTI tool. I bought an early version and I hear the most current versions are even more wonderful (though I cannot imagine how). Just check out some videos on YouTube and you'll start thinking about putting this on your Christmas wish list for sure!
Now to get all the "stuff" from this project put away and get my new stamp sets from last month's sale out to try so Ican show them off next! Nothing 10-years old about them!
