Aloha, all!
I have been crafting up a storm this past week since my fund-raising fair. Much of what I’ve been doing has been with my friend, Donna, who is visiting the island for a short time taking care of some business with her property here. But she let me know long before she landed on the shores of Hilo, Hawaii, that she definitely wanted some crafting time with me. Yay! So far we’ve had two one-day crafting sessions, and they were definitely intense! Neither one of us has anyone living nearby who likes paper-crafting as much as we do, and we’re both taking advantage of this time together.
While much of our time has been spent making some projects with new Stampin’ Up! products (more about that in a week or two!), we’ve also tried to start using up some retiring products. And of course we broke out my favorite of the papers retiring from the 2019 Occasions Catalog and played with them. What are they? The Gingham Gala Designer Series Papers.
Now don’t jump to conclusions – that fab stamp set, Beautiful Bouquet is NOT retiring! But I thought that the Gingham Gala paper would go so well with a nosegay of flowers made with that set. Truth be told, I haven’t used it a lot lately. I started paying attention to it as I was going through and weeding out retiring stamp sets when I was reminded of how versatile it is.
With Designer Series Papers of any variety, I can pick out the colors in the paper and use them in the bouquet. For this bouquet, I used all of the colors of the Gingham Gala papers that I featured in the background – the retiring Lemon Lime Twist and the not-retiring Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather, and Grapefruit Grove.
I also used a stamp from the same stamp set for the sentiment. I cut out the ovals using the Layering Ovals Dies and the circles using the Layering Circles Dies. (Going into the next catalog, Stampin’ Up! is discontinuing use of the words, “Thinlits” and “Framelits.” So I decided I’d just go ahead and start doing that now so I’ll be used to it before I have to.) I chose Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock for my accent color. That glorious color is already gone for good!
As in many times past, I tied the card together with a little bit of ribbon, this time the Gorgeous Grape 1/4″ Mini Striped Ribbon. That also is NOT retiring!
Before I posted this, I updated the Retiring Product List. More and more items have sold out, and as we approach the publication of the Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, more and more are going to disappear, just like that Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock! Just two more weeks! To shop for any retiring products, click on the Last Chance Products icon up on the right. Don’t delay if there’s something you’d really like to have!!!
Tomorrow is another stamping day with Donna, and I’ll be sharing some more fun stuff with you later this week.
I hope you have as much fun stamping as Donna and I are planning to have!
