Easter Sampler!

March 27, 2013 by Robin

Aloha, all!

As long as I had the stamp set, Spring Sampler, out on my work table for yesterday's Stampin' Up! Only Challenge, I decided that I should use some of the Easter images in the set for my next set of Easter cards.  I'm sending two of these to my older almost-teenage grandsons on the west coast  Somehow I don't think that they'd appreciate the cute little images from Everybunny as well as the younger group on the east coast would!

My dear husband, always the practical one, reminded me that they probably wouldn't care WHAT was on the front of the Easter card as long as we put a little something inside to help fill their "Easter Baskets."  Nonetheless, I decided on something a bit less cutesie for them.

Obviously, I colored each of the three stamps that I used with my Stampin' Write Markers.  I used Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Lucky Limeade and Daffodil Delight.  These colors are all included in the sheet of Designer Series Paper from the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP set that I included as the main card front for the card.

I was going to use my standard combination of the 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" square punches.  But the images from the Spring Sampler set were just a bit too small for those squares.  So, for the stamped images, I used the 1" Square Punch, and then I hand (well paper-cutter) cut out 1-1/8" squares to mat the stamped squares.  Then I was going to adhere them directly to the DSP, but I decided that looked too busy.  So I added a strip of Very Vanilla Card Stock that I texturized with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  THEN I adhered the squares, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Ah – I decided AFTER the fact that I probably should have added in a layer of Marina Mist for a bit of color.  But I had an alternative – two strips of 1/8" Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon!  Now I felt that my design was complete – well, of course, with the Happy Easter greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set!

There are still a few Easter cards to make – none of which have to go in the mail, thank goodness!  Today really is the last day to send mail from Hawaii and ensure it makes it to the mainland!  So if you need some last minute ideas, be sure to stop by later in the week!  Meanwhile, I hope you're having fun with whatever paper crafting you're working on this week!
