Aloha, all!
I hope you all have visited the Divas Coffee Break Design Team blog today. Fabulous color challenge! And the Stamp Set Fast and Fabulous, which I chose for my challenge card was also chosen by at least one other Diva (Sharon Field) this week. So there must be something in the colors that just made us think of this set. And the colors are: Baja Breeze, Regal Rose, Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz.
Fast and Fabulous is a 2-Step Stampin' set, and that is one of my favorite techniques. No coloring in a line-art stamp. Nope, there's a second stamp all ready for you to ink up and (using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, of course) stamp right over the line art to fill in the color. In this case, I stamped the outline using Concord Crush and then inked up my second stamp with Stampin' Write Markers in Regal Rose and Pear Pizzazz. I did use the markers to color in a little bit more than the second stamp, but it was just a swipe her and a swipe there.
I think what really sets this card off is the Scallop Trim Border Punched Edges in two of the layers of the center element. I really liked the use of the color combo we were given for this challenge for these layers. As I was getting ready to attach this to the background layers, I decided that I wanted a bit more of the Concord Crush on the Very Vanilla layer. So I dug through a pile of stuff I haven't used in awhile and found my Color Spritzer Tool. Why I don't use this more I have no idea. But now it's out and about on the Craft Room table, so there may be more spritzing in my near future!
As you know, I'm loving texture as an embellishment, so popped the Baja Breeze layer in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder before layering it up on the Regal Rose then the Concord Crush layers. Finally, I added some of this year's In Color Ribbon, the 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon in Concord Crush, to tie the card all together.
Fun – and Fast and Fabulous! – card! Here's the sketch. If you are not going to punch the edges of the top and back layer of the center element, you may want to adjust the width to even them out a bit. I assumed the punching in the measurements that I show.
Have fun with this! And be sure to check out the Divas Coffee Break Design Team this week – and even enter one of YOUR fab creations to the post!
