Aloha, all!
My congratulations go out to everyone who completed an academic course of study this spring! Education is SOOO important, at every level.
One of my neighbors is helping to celebrate her niece's graduation this month, and she asked me to make a card for her. Her niece's school colors are Silver, Black and Royal Blue. Hmmm. The Royal Blue is tough with what's in Stampin' Up!'s color pallette. But I think that the Pacific Point that I used makes a nice looking card!
The Silver and Black were easy, with Stampin' Up!'s Basic Black Card Stock, and the Silver Embossing Powder and Brushed Silver Card Stock. Oh, and those Silver Glimmer Brads from the Basics Glimmer Brads collection – they add the Silver to this card, too!
For a little more embellishment, I used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder on the Pacific Point Card Stock to give the card some texture, and the Basic Black 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon for a bow (perfect for a girl's graduation!).
The stamp is in the Layered Labels Stamp Set. It has two elements on either side that make it nicely fit one of the framelits from the Apothecary Accents Framelits set. When I originally thought of the design for this card, my intention was to cut the stamped and embossed image with the framelit. But when I put it on the Brushed Silver card stock, it just looked a little too bland for my taste (which tends towards the bland, but not THAT bland!). So I trimmed the stamped image close to the rectangle and cut a piece of the Pacific Point card stock with the framelit and layered those two. I think that little bit of blue that's showing between the black and silver is a nice touch.
I punched the top and bottom of the Brushed Silver layer with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. I also used that punch for the Whisper White Card Stock layer inside the Brushed Silver card (much easier to write on than the silver card stock!), and used the Scallop Trim Corner Punch with the Border Punch for that.
Two of the products that I used in this card are retiring May 31st! So you only have another week to order them if you want to have them to use in the future. The one I'd definitely recommend you purchase if you don't have it is the Scallop Trim Corner Punch. Yep, the corner punch is retiring, but the border punch isn't. That's going to be tough for me because I really like using the two together! The other retiring product is the Black Taffeta Ribbon. Some of the Taffeta Ribbon will stay in the new catalog, but not the black. So if you like this ribbon for a black accent, order now! Both of these products are still available as of the date I'm writing this.
For those of you in the United States, I hope you have a peaceful and creative holiday weekend.
