Circle of Petite Petals!

January 16, 2014 by Robin

Aloha, all!

SFFSketch     I'd like to welcome all of you who follow my blog to my participation in the Sketch Frenzy Friday Design Team!  Not only is this my first Sketch Frenzy Friday project, it's the SFF group's first challenge of the New Year.  There are lots of new Design Team members, and we're all getting our feet wet with a delightful sketch by fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Tammy Baldwin.

One thing about a sketch challenge (any sketch challenge, not just the SFF Challenge) is that we are not required to copy the sketch precisely.  For this project, I decide to have a layer on top of the card base and to use flowers instead of the stars.  Oh, and red is so NOT a color I use in January!

SFF0117

So here I am thinking of some lovely orange colored flowers that are blooming right now in our Hawaii garden, and I immediately thought of the brand new Petite Petals Punch.  Not only that, one of the main colors in the brand new Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper set is Tangerine Tango.  What a great opportunity for me to show off these two new products from the 2014 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog, "Celebrate the Everyday."

Besides Tangerine Tango, So Saffron – a soft yellow – is also featured in this sheet from the paper set.  That made it easy to make a lovely So Saffron Candy Dots center for the three Petite Petal flowers that I punched using Tangerine Tango Cardstock.  I made the circle with the Tangerine Tango Cardstock also, cutting one of the small circles from the Circles Collection Framelits and then cutting out the hole made by the framelit with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch.  You might well wonder why I didn't just use two framelits for this.  Sigh.  I've lost one of my circle framelits.  Oh, I'm sure it's on my work table.  But that table is such a disaster at this moment!  I went looking for the circle framelit and came across an oval framelit that (1) I can't remember using, it's that long ago; and (2) I didn't even know I was missing!  So guess what my project immediately after writing this blog post is!  My cleaning shoes are ON!

But back to the project.  There's also a sentiment element on this card, and I did follow the sketch and used the Word Window Punch for the sentiment, which I found in another brand new product, the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set.  I finished the card off with some Tangerine Tango Candy Dots.  I think those Candy Dots that I used for both main sections of the card front really tie the whole project together nicely!

So now off to my work table cleaning!  Meanwhile, you might think about making your own project using Tammy's sketch and enter it in the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog! Have fun with it!

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
