Aloha, all!
Today was a challenge day at the website of one of my Stampin' Up! demonstrators' groups. Usually there's a sketch for this challenge. Today, however, the challenge was different. We called it a 1-2-3 Challenge: 1 Stamp Set; 2 pieces of Designer Paper, 3 embellishments (and it could be 3 of one embellishment). I cheated a bit as I have 4 embellishments on mine, including the ribbon. But two brads up in the corner looked way too lonely.
Both sheets of Designer Paper were taken from the Stampin' Up! Jolly Holiday Designer Paper set. In fact, they are two sides of the same piece of paper. That Stampin' Up! makes most of its designer papers two-sided is one of the features that I like most about these papers. Another feature that I like is that they coordinate with the Stampin' Up! Card Stock colors, in this case Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, and Very Vanilla. It really pulls a card all together without much effort at all!
There's something else about this card that's special – I had to make it pretty quickly because of lots of other stuff going on in the craft room. But I didn't have to think up a card layout. Nope, I went right to my new book of my very own 2010 Card Layouts. I picked the layout from my August 18, 2010, Blog Post and I had my card done in no time!
Yes, the book is done, and it's ready for distribution. It's over 100 pages and has every layout sketch I provided in my blog posts this year, along with the cards made from the layouts – in some cases more than one card sample! And there's much, much more in the book.
With all that's going on this month, I'm not quite ready for sales. But I have already started distributing gift copies. So, who else gets a copy of the book FOR FREE this month? Well, quite a few people, including anyone who places Stampin' Up! orders with me (either personally or online) of $100 or more during December. AND I'll be giving away at least two copies as blog candy as the month goes on. Watch for more details in my blog post on December 6th – next Monday! Hint: It can't hurt to post comments to my blog letting me know why you'd like a copy of the book!
Have a great day this December 2nd. Only 23 more days until Christmas!
What a cool idea, to have a book of layouts! I only recently found your blog and so I don't know if you do this every year or something but I think it is a great idea. Today's card looks great. Thanks for sharing. jmniiffer
A book of your own layouts? How cool is that? What did you use to publish it? Big fan of yours from SUDSOL; you've helped to motivate my mojo more than once!
What a great idea! Boy, would I ever love having a book like this. Thinking up layouts sometimes is what takes me the most time, in addition to designing something unique/original. I'd love to have this so I wouldn't have to strain my brain so much! Love your blog and I look forward to every post.
Wow, a book of your own layouts. I have kept almost every blog of yours since I found you. I love the way you provide the sizes of each element. When I need a quick card, its to Robins file, because I know you have done most of the work for me..I just come up with the papers..and now color coach helps me with that even. If I am not lucky enough to have a copy bestowed upon me….well just count me in for the purchase…because I will be the proud owner by one means or another.
