Aloha, all!
Perhaps another title for this blog post might be, "A Bit Over the Top!" Whatever it is that hit me today, it sure struck a "bright" cord in my craft room!
Today is the day for the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge blog post, and the challenge this time around is to use Buttons and Brads, though either one would be all right in the whole scheme of things. But could I choose just one or the other? Nooooo. Could I choose just one color? Noooooo. Nope, I had to go all out and choose a whole gamut of the colors that are in Stampin' Up!'s Brights Collection, or at least closely related to it.
It all started when I went through my (still a bit on the skimpy side) collection of 2012 Designer Series Papers. For some reason the sheet from the Summer Smooches set of Designer Series Papers grabbed me and would not let go. I really did try to pull out some other papers, both from this set and from others. But I kept coming back to this one. OK, then – which colors from the six that are in this print should I choose? Noooooo! Not all of them! Well, I decided to not include the Tangerine Tango when I realized that there is not a brad or button in the current catalog with that color. I was about to go that route with Lucky LImeade, but I ended up using the Lucky Limeade Card Stock for an accent color. The other four? There are brads and buttons galore.
So on the front of this card there are Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, and Daffodil Delight Brads, as well as Real Red and Tempting Turquoise Buttons. I threw in some Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and some Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon just for kicks.
Now I'm trying to decide who I know to whom I'll send this card. It certainly will have to be someone who owns a strong pair of sunglasses!
I almost didn't include this in the SUO Challenge Blog just because it does seem just a bit too much "over the top." But then I thought, "Why not let my blog readers see that I'm capable of such a thing?" Why not, indeed! So here it is.
Later in the week when I'm not feeling quite so adventuresome, I may try out this challenge with something a bit more toned down – as did most of the rest of the gang in the SUO Challenge Design Team. To check them out – and to post your own response to this challenge! – just click here! I'm sure you'll have some fun seeing what the rest of the team did!
Oh, and that alphabet stamp set! It's a set that's been around for awhile called, Lovely Letters. It's best used for monograms, I think. But with this card? I figured anything goes!
Robin, this card is so cheerful and full of Colour! Just what I needed today in dreary Sydney, Australia!
