Back to Naming that Quilt!

July 31, 2012 by Robin

Aloha, all!

A couple of weeks back I shared this card with you, asking you to tell me what the quilt block pattern was.  While I was happy to have several of you say that this is an Ohio Star quilt (I'm an Ohio native, after all!), there were a few who said this is an 8-pointed star quilt.

Someone, though, said that it could be called an Ohio Star with a turned center.  After I went searching for the various terms that all you helpful ladies offered, I'm thinking that this one is probably the most accurate, though I did find a photo in my search that someone called a "wonky star" and that looked a lot like this one.  It would seem to me to be a really easy quilt block for a beginning quilter.  But then I have trouble "seeing" what a whole quilt made of these blocks would look like.  There certainly would be lots of white space!

But I would like to send this card out to someone, and that someone would be Kim Humbert, who offered that it was an Ohio Star with a turned center.  So, Kim, if you'd e-mail me your address, I'll be glad to get it into the mail right away!

I think my next project may be one of those 8-pointed star quilts!

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
