Aloha, all!
It's been a busy few days with one too many Christmas parties around my part of the world. But today is a day JUST for crafting (well, and writing a blog post about crafting – also fun, but not as much)!
To start I thought I'd share a CASE (Copy And Share with Every one) a project from Card Maker Magazine. Most of the time when I CASE a project from Card Maker, I end up taking their design and changing it over to Stampin' Up! products. But this card was different – it already was made completely with Stampin' Up! products!!
I immediately recognized the decorative stamp as coming from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set in the Stampin' Up! 2012 Holiday Catalog. The colors are Real Red, Old Olive and Always Artichoke, with a bit of Gold Embossing Powder thrown in for a touch of elegance (though I think the whole design is fairly elegant). One interesting feature of this eye-catching card is that there are NO LAYERS on it! It's strictly some Whisper White Card Stock with stamping and a few embellishments on it!
After I made this, copying the card in the magazine almost exactly (my stamps are not lined up nearly as perfectly as the sample!), I wondered how this would look in a different set of colors. Then Stampin' Up! demonstrator extraordinaire, Patty Bennett, said that she might try this project using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio. Well, why not! It would save me having to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig repeatedly, as I had to in order to get all those stamped images lined up.
So try it with something different I did! For this card, I used My Digital Studio for the initial "stamping," and then added the stamped greeting and the cut out images using "real" products. For the basic colors of the card, I used Real Red, Not Quite Navy, and Baja Breeze. Then I embossed the greeting and the three die-cut images using Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder. Figuring I might as well go all the way with the changes, I added Basic Pearls in place of the Rhinestones in the original card.
This is not my only fun for the day! I'm about to make a couple of dozen favors for my husband's bridge club game this weekend. So off I am to have some fun with that, and I'll be showing those off later in the weekend!
Only a week and a half left until Christmas! I have all but a few of my Christmas cards done, and I'll be finishing those up this weekend, too, as they have to go into the mail on Tuesday. I hope you're having as much fun getting ready for the holiday as I am!
