Aloha, all!
One of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is that I get the bi-monthly magazine, Stampin' Success, which has tons of great ideas about how to use Stampin' Up! products. As I'm a magazine junkie, this is a big deal for me! Another benefit is that I get to participate in some online groups reserved just for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators – including one of my favorite groups, SUDSOL.
I especially love SUDSOL's weekly challenges, including one every week where we're challenge to CASE (Copy And Share with Everyone) a specific project from the Stampin' Success magazine.
One of the things I really like about CASEing a project is that I get to use colors that I like; I'm not stuck with the colors of the person who made the original project, even if she or he is an expert! So, while the layout of this card is pretty close to the layout of the CASEd card, the colors definitely are not.
Keeping with the theme of this week and the next two – which is "rush, rush, rush" (I'm traveling and rushing to get a bunch of cards done before I leave!), I'll just share what I used in the way of colors, papers and embellishments.
The printed papers are from that fantastic Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack that's in the 2012 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. I picked two pieces that have the colors Lucky Limeade and Cherry Cobbler. Those papers, along with a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper – also from the Holiday Catalog – are all mounted on a card made with the Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper featured in the 2012-2012 Stampin' Up! Catalog.
The stamped image is made up of four stamps, three of which are from the Evergreen Stamp Set, with the greeting from the stamp set, More Merry Messages. Evergreen is in the Holiday Catalog and More Merry Messages is in the 2012-2013 Catalog. The tree is made up of two stamps. One is the "fill" stamp and the other is an outline stamp. There are several ways you can use this "two-step stampin' " set. One is to use a lighter color for the fill and a darker for the outline. Or use the same colors, but stamp off the fill so it appears lighter that the outline. The way I used this was to stamp both images with the same color without any stamping off.
For that bit of texture interest in the upper left corner, I stamped the star from the Evergreen set in Cherry Cobbler and punched both it and the Champagne Glimmer Paper with the Jewelry Tag Punch. I adhered them to the card front with Mini Glue Dots and then added a bow made with Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, also adhered with a Mini Glue Dot.
I hope you're enjoying my quick projects these few weeks while I'm gone! If you have any questions about them, please just leave a comment here on my blog; or you can e-mail me – I'm far from my craft room, but not from my e-mail!
