Aloha, all!
I spent a lot more time last weekend CASEing the new Stampin' Up! Catalog than I intended. The main reason is that I found such great designs throughout its pages, and I wanted to try them all! Of course I couldn't do that because I've only bought a few of the dozens and dozens of stamp sets available. But the few that I do have in my collection of new products are definitely those that I, personally, will enjoy. And I hope that those of you who follow my blog will enjoy them, too!
My last blog post on Tuesday featured one of the fish from the Seaside Shore Stamp Set. But that's not the only set with a cute fish – so is one of my favorite new sets, Jar of Love. Stampin' Up! had a jar stamp set a few years back, but this one is SOOO much more interesting. First of all, there are lots more different kinds of designs to go with the jars. And second, there's a great set of framelits, Everyday Jars Framelits, that coordinate with the stamp set.
This card is much more of a CASE than a direct copy of the project on page 74 of the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! Catalog. But the one part that caught my eye was the cute little fish in the water at the bottom of the jar! I just had to use that in a card. I also liked the circle and the banner shapes in the background, so I wound those into my design also. The circle is a piece of Mint Macaron Cardstock cut with the 2" Circle Punch. I made the Pumpkin Pie Banner using the straight banner in the new Bunch of Banners Framelits set. I hand cut a piece of paper from the By the Shore Designer Series Paper set – the same print as the one that I used for the mat behind the central layer.
I did a light watercolor wash on the piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock that forms the base for the central layer. It looks just dark enough in person, but sure doesn't show up in a photograph well! Since I make my cards to send out to friends and family, it's what it looks like IRL that's important to me!
This card marks my very first use of the new Enamel Shapes that have replaced Candy Dots in the Stampin' Up! catalog. I really do like the Candy Dots, but I think I'll get used to the Enamel Shapes once I've used them in different projects. I have to say that it really was fun to have that little heart for this card. Oh, and I found out – the hard way – that, once these dots are on your paper, they're there to stay! I really wanted to move that little heart just a tad to get the exact balance I wanted. But it and its adhesive had other ideas. At least I won't have to be concerned that they'll fall off in the mail!
More CASEs to come in the next week or so! But I've finally branched out to make some of my own designs, and I'll sprinkle some of them in, too! And, if you're interested in buying any of the products that I have on my blog, don't forget that you can buy them on my very own Stampin' Up! website. Just click here to start shopping! Or click on any of the pictures below to go directly to that item in the store! Note, that if you purchase the stamp set and the framelits together – item 142342 is the bundle number – you get a discount. The bundle is just $52 instead of $60.
