And The Winner Is??? (psst: and some blog candy!)

The Seattle Seahawks!!

Aloha, all!

Welcome to the Monday after the Superbowl! As I was considering what my theme for today would be, one of my fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrators, Robbie Rubala, had an online challenge:  Make a card using the colors of your favorite team in the Superbowl.  We were to use Tangerine Tango and Night of Navy for Denver, and use Gumball Green, Midnight Muse and Silver for the Seattle Seahawks.  Wow!  Was that not a perfect theme for this particular Monday morning?!!!

So off I went to find some new products in the latest Stampin' Up! Catalogs, and I decided on the Occasions Catalog Stamp Set, Geometrical and the Sale-A-Bration Catalog Stamp Set, Banner Blast, with its coordinating new Banner Punch.

For a card to send to a supporter of the winning team, above, I chose some of the triangle-shaped stamps in the Geometrical stamp set, along with the "Hooray for Today" stamp from the same set.  What a great winning combination!  But what about the loser?  Supporters of the losing team need some sympathy, too, don't you think?

DenverCheerUp

How about the stamp that says, "Cheer Up Buttercup" also from the Geometrical stamp set.  And to complement that sentiment, some of the banners from the Banner Blast stamp set punched with the Banner Punch.

You might wonder how I got this whole blog post done in time to be ready for this particular Monday morning when I could not possibly have known the winner of the Superbowl before the game?  Of course, I didn't know.  So I had to make TWO WINNER and TWO LOSER cards.  Those were easy to switch around at the very last minute if I had to!

Denver Win

For the Denver Bronco's "winner" card, and the Seattle Seahawks' "loser card," I added in another Sale-A-Bration product, the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder for some texture behind the sentiments.

That about covers it for the products from the new catalogs!  But there are lots of other current products that complement these new products beautifully in these cards.

  • For the Denver "winner" card: Tangerine Tango and Night of Navy Designer Series Paper Stack paper; Night of Navy 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon; one of the Deco Labels Framelits
  • For the Denver "loser" card: The Night of Navy 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon; one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits; and one of the Chalk Talk Framelits
  • For the Seattle "winner" card: The Deco Labels Framelit; Silver Foil Sheet; Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon; Silver 1/8" Ribbon; and Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder (on Versamark Ink)
  • For the Seattle "loser" card: Two framelits from the Circle Framelits Collection; Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.

Now wasn't that fun!? There's even some blog candy for those of you interested in the Superbowl!  Just make a comment on this blog post about your favorite team and let me know which one of these four cards you'd like to have!  And, yes, I'll be sending all four out, each to one lucky commenter! Deadline for comments is Midnight Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

The original of this post was part of a blog tour for one of my online Stampin' Up! Demonstrator groups, SUDSOL.  For all of you who might be Stampin' Up! Demonstrators, there's a free trial to try out the SUDSOL Demonstrator's Group!  Just click here for more information about that.  It's my absolute favorite online Demonstrator group.  One thing that makes it a favorite is that the focus is on those of us who are conducting classes and holding workshops and otherwise working with customers to show them how easy making products with Stampin' Up! products is.  The projects that I've shown above are not fancy, just creative – and EASY to use in classes and workshops, for either demonstrations or teaching.  That's what SUDSOL's all about!  Come join us!!!

And everyone else – I hope you'll enjoy thinking about making cards based on current events!  I'm going to be sharing some more with this kind of idea as the Spring goes on.  What fun we'll all have!

Robin, I love ALL of these cards!!!  What an awesome idea!!  I didn't have a rooting interest in the game but my husband was cheering the SeaHawks on.  I'd love any of these cards!

Great cards Robin – love the Super Bowl colors idea and the sentiments fit perfectly – I was cheering for the Seahawks but the Bears are my hometown team – same colors as the Broncos.
