Aloha, all!
Last week I shared a few cards that I’d made using the main image in the FREE Sale-a-Bration Stamp Set, Lovely Lattice. That bunch of flowers against a lacy, lattice-like design has become one of the most favored items in this year’s Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration Brochure. But there are two other stamps in that set, one of which is a darling little flower that doesn’t seem to be getting its fair share of attention! So I set out to change that.
This fun little flower fits perfectly in the 1-1/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. For this card, I chose to use the Daffodil Delight Color to make a monochromatic card, adding in some Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper and another FREE Sale-a-Bration product, the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack. Both of these contain the same variety of Stampin’ Up! colors, so they’re perfect together!
As this is a fairly straight forward design, I’d like to focus on the strip of Whisper White Cardstock on which I layered the Scalloped Circle elements. It’s 2-1/8″ high, which turns out to be exactly the right measurement to hold the circle elements AND the sentiment (from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set). But, in my first try at this card, I made the strip 1-3/4″ high as I thought that would have provided plenty of space. But it just didn’t work.
Here’s my design tip: Just because something doesn’t work as you originally wanted it to work doesn’t mean that you should abandon the work that you’ve already done. Go ahead and finish your project, as someone will be happy to get a handmade card, even if you think it’s not your best.
This Balmy Blue monochromatic card really is a nice looking card. Is it the one I like best? No. But that doesn’t mean it’s not nice!
If you purchase the catalog products listed below, you’ll be able to get the Lovely Lattice Stamp Set and the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack FOR FREE! This is just during Sale-a-Bration, though. So don’t wait to qualify for these fabulous products!
And don’t forget to have fun, even with projects that don’t turn out as you originally designed them!
