Aloha, all!
I do NOT know where this week has gone. The last I looked it was Tuesday and all of a sudden here it is Saturday!!! Well, for one thing, I've been bombarded this week with orders for not only my 2011 Greeting Card Layout CD, but also for the 2010 CD! I'm certainly not complaining, but I have been being very complacent about keeping the CDs in stock, so I had to restock and fast!
My main reason for breaking out my stamping supplies was that I needed to make a Birthday Card for my son (who is much too old to have a mother as young as I am!) But I do still have to make him a home made greeting card.
The reason that I'm posting this card early (my son's birthday is next week) is that I also had to make a card for this week's Create With Connie and Mary New Catalog edition Saturday Color Challenge. So for a change I actually had fun with the color challenge – who wouldn't have fun making a card for her son!
The colors for this challenge are: Basic Gray (the cake stand); Pool Party (the background layer and the Designer Brads); So Saffron (the cupcake frosting and mat for the stamped layer); and Riding Hood Red (everything else, except for the Whisper White stamped layer).
As this is the New Catalog Edition of Create, I chose to use two products from the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog as major elements of the card. The first is, of course, the Hostess Stamp Set, A Cherry on Top. This is the first time I've used this set, though I have lots of ideas about how I'll be using it as the year goes on. You do know, of course, that hostesses – those who place either a personal or party order of at least $150 – can get this stamp set for only $12 (in the clear mount edition). There are 9 stamps in this set and even the wood mount edition – at $17 – is a great bargain!
The other new catalog product is the Sizzix Argyle Embossing Folder, which is what I used for the texture on the Pool Party layer. This is going to be such a great embossing folder to use for the upcoming holidays. I have all kinds of ideas about how to use it and will share many of them here, I'm sure.
Now, of course, I'm hungry for a piece of cake – or cupcake! And there is none in this house. We're having company for dinner tonight and cake just might be my dessert of choice! I can taste the frosting already! Too bad I can't travel to the mainland to share some with the birthday boy!
