A Quick Fix for Inertia

February 1, 2018 by Robin

Aloha, all!

Do you ever have one of those days (weeks, months?) where you just know crafting would be good for you, but you just can’t get started? I obviously have been having this going on in my Craft Room ever since I broke my foot last fall. While there have been spurts of activity (I had to get my Christmas Cards done and I had classes to prepare), the rest of the time, I’ve found myself staring at my work table wondering what I’m going to do next.

Today, I said, “enough.” No, I didn’t immediately get my mojo back. But what I did do is to tell myself to start looking for other stampers’ projects on the internet, and then CASE them. For those of you who are new to the word, CASE, it basically amounts to copying the essence of someone else’s project, while many times doing something just a bit differently. The acronym stands for Copy And Share with Everyone. When I CASE a project, I make sure that I note whose project I’m copying to give them credit for the original design.

My first CASE project for today is one inspired by a project by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, Jo Anne Hewins, who made her card for a Create with Connie and Mary challenge last month. I had just a few days before noticed the fun heart pattern in the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration Bubbles and Fizz Designer Series Paper set. For my first CASEing effort, I googled the name of the paper set and, before too long, there was Jo Anne’s project on my computer screen.

What’s similar about our two projects are the papers (both from the Bubbles and Fizz set), and Stamp Set/Framelits Sure Do Love You Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Occasions Catalog. What’s different is that I decided to make use of the nicely-coordinating Sale-A-Bration Tutti Frutti Cards & Envelopes set. The card base is the same Calypso Coral color as the heart design on the Designer Series Paper. Then, to separate the Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper from the Calypso Coral card base, I added a rectangle of Whisper White Cardstock. While Jo Anne’s project had a strip of another set of Designer Series Paper across the bottom, I instead added a piece of the Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon, also from the Occasions Catalog.

So I have a card made!!!  Yay! And everything I used, except the Bermuda Bay Ink and Whisper White Cardstock is all from our newest Catalog, the Occasions Catalog, or the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. And I earned the Designer Series Paper and the Card Base for FREE by buying some of the other products in this card and others that I’ll share over the next week or so. Robin Messenheimer

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
