A Quick CASE!

May 11, 2013 by Robin

Aloha, all!

You remember what CASE means, don't you?  Copy And Share with Everyone!  There are some variations on that, but you get the idea.  Take a card or other design and either copy it exactly, or use the basic structure to make a card with your own colors, shapes and/or stamp sets.

This week we had a CASE challenge on SUDSOL (a Stampin' Up! Demonstrators group to which I belong).  This is the card that we were to CASE:

CASE189pg20

The colors used were Bermuda Bay (a color that's being brought back into the Stampin' Up! collection); Daffodil Delight; Tangerine Tango and Pear Pizzazz (another color being brought back).  The Tangerine Tango background is just that – background, not a part of the project).

Now here's the card that I made to CASE the above card:

CASE189 copy

You can see that mostly what I did was just to change out the colors.  I don't yet have a supply of Bermuda Bay cardstock or a marker (which I needed to color in the stamp).  So I picked another basic card color – Lucky Limeade – and then changed out some colors to fit my idea of what worked together.  My colors are Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, and Marina Mist.  Just as in the original card, I used the Stripes Embossing Folder for the top layer and made it stand out from the basic card by using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The tag at the top was made in the original card using the Jewelry Tag Punch.  But that punch is retiring and I've already packed away my retiring products for sale this summer.  So I used the Modern Label Punch for the top of the tag.

Oh, the stamp set is Embellished Events.  I just bought this set and this is the first time I've used it.  I stopped buying stamp sets back in February, waiting to see if something I'd decided I wanted to have would be in the next big Stampin' Up! Catalog.  This was one of the sets I'd wanted, and it's in the new catalog!

Besides being fun seeing what you can do with a design, CASEing a project is a LOT faster than starting a card from scratch – the design's already there for you!  All you have to do is decide if you want to just COPY the card (give credit if you publish it online) or change out some of the elements (still give credit online!).  Whatever you do for your next paper crafting project, I hope you have as much fun with it as I had making this card!

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
