A Fun Box Fold!

When I was working at getting design ideas for the orchid card I shared the other day, I started looking through my computer for the paperwork for a class I’d planned last year using the Climbing Orchid bundle that was current at the time. While I didn’t find that paperwork (it may have been just before the volcanic eruption, and I likely never finished it), I did come across a photo of a card I’d made that I’d forgotten about. I don’t even think I ever shared the design on my blog. It’s also one of those designs that could have lots of different names, so who knows what I may have called it in the past. For now I’m calling it a Box Fold Card, and there are two layers of box folds in it.

If you’re looking at a current Stampin’ Up! Catalog, you’ll not find this Designer Series Paper (DSP). That’s because it retired at the beginning of this month – rats! I never did use it enough. While it was alive and well in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog, it was called Tea Room Specialty DSP. The “specialty” part of this paper is that it is much lighter in weight than the usual Stampin’ Up! DSP, which makes it perfect for this type of a fold.  Alert:  There’s another DSP with this same weight in the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog called Pressed Petals DSP. And I just ordered it!

There are some current products that I used in this card. The dominant colors are Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla. I wondered why I had such a large stash of Very Vanilla Cardstock, and I finally realized it’s because I haven’t been using it. Hmmm, what’s with that?!  Well, it turns out that most of the DSP in the last couple of Stampin’ Up! catalogs have featured Whisper White as the base color. BUT, the new Pressed Petals DSP (as well as the retired paper I used in this card) does feature Very Vanilla. So now that I’ve focused on that, I’ll be sure to pay more attention to the specialty paper!

OK – back to products. Here’s another product I’ve not used much of – the Gold 3/8″ Metallic Edge Ribbon. Well, what do you know – the fabric is Very Vanilla! OK, we’ll use more of that, too!

The embossing folder is the Country Floral 3D Embossing Folder. As I mentioned earlier in the week these 3D folders aren’t yet available for purchase from the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. You can be sure I’ll let you know when they become available. Meanwhile, if you have one of these folders, just keep using them and enjoying them whenever and however you like, just like I do!
