Aloha, all!
It’s time for another Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge over at the SUOChallenges.com website, and this time I had a hard time deciding what I should use for the theme, “A Favorite Sentiment.” OMG, I have so many favorites! I started thinking about long-retired Stampin’ Up! stamp sets and sentiments that were unique to them and that I really, really miss. But, if you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I pretty much get rid of stamp sets when they retire. Looking over the stamp sets in my current collection, there are some new unique sentiments that have been fun to use. But I finally settled on a sentiment that seems to be universally loved, and the way I’m using it isn’t even with a stamp set.
How could I go wrong with, “Happy Birthday”?!
This card is one I recently made for a favorite fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, whom I first met at a convention several years ago, and who happens also to be the demonstrator who helped with my current blog design, Lyssa Zwolanek. She is such a sweetheart, and I wanted her card to be something like I’d never made before.
Of course, I’d never made a card with the fun Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper before I made this one. That’s because this paper just became available to get FOR FREE as a Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration product earlier this month. I’d just received my first (of several I hope) shipment of this paper when Lyssa’s birthday was about to happen. So I made silver my theme for this card. I didn’t have to look far for another current sheet of Designer Series Paper that went with my Silver theme. I found it in the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Occasions Catalog set of paper, Sweet Soirèe Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper set also has silver foil accents and this Calypso Coral sheet with Silver dots was a perfect match!
Carrying on with my Silver Theme, I decided that, rather than have a stamped sentiment, I’d pull out the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die (in the Stampin’ Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog) and die-cut some of the Silver Foil, also in the Annual Catalog. Oh, and I tied this card all together with a bow made with the 1/8″ Silver Ribbon. I finished off the card by mounting my silver, silver, silver and silver card front onto a card base of Calypso Coral Cardstock.
What’s your favorite sentiment? We over at the SUO Challenge Design Team would love to know, and we hope you’ll make a card with your favorite and share it with us!
Here is a recap of the products I used in this card:
