Aloha, all!
As I write this, it's the day after Christmas and it's now time for Thank You notes! And what better way to send a Thank You than with a handmade note card!
Sometimes when making a Thank You card, it's fun to use the theme of the occasion on which I received a gift as the theme for the Thank You card. In this case, I didn't go overboard with the Christmas theme. But I did use a distinctly Christmas image in the Poinsettia from the Joyful Christmas Stamp Set. I stamped the image and the "Thank You" (from the Lots of Thanks stamp set) using Real Red Ink. For the image though, I inked up the stamp then stamped it not once but twice on a piece of scrap paper. THEN I stamped it onto the Whisper White Cardstock, which I cut into a tag shape.
Sneak Peek Alert! The top of that tag is made with a PUNCH!! It's one of the new Tag Topper Punches, this one called the "Angled TagTopper Punch." What fun that is not having to guess – or even worse, measure! – to get those left and right angles to match each other. So much simpler to cut a 2" rectangle then punch one end with the punch! It's just a bit more than a week before the next Stampin' Up! Catalog comes out and you'll be able to order your own!
I colored the Poinsettia in with a Pink Pirouette Stampin' Write Marker. I also used Pink Pirouette Ink to ink up the Very Vintage Wheel before I ran it over the bottom of the card.
The layout as a whole is one that you'll find on page 105 of the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog. The colors are different and I made splotches of added color a bit less pronounced. But I still used a Stampin' Spritzer to spritz a bit of Pink Pirourette Ink mixed with water (couldn't find the alcohol!) onto the card and the Tea Lace Doily.
The ribbon behind the tag is a piece of Crushed Curry 3/4" Chevron Ribbon, which seemed to coordinate nicely with the Crushed Curry ink that I used for the center of the Poinsettia and also for the circle around the punched hole in the tag. I just love that curry accent with the Pink Pirouette!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas – we certainly did here in our rain forest garden in Hawaii. Sometime I'd like to experience a White Christmas again. But, as I told some friends during a visit on Christmas Eve, I'd like to be transported a la Star Trek, into a room with a view and a warm fire place, so I wouldn't ever actually have to get cold or wet! As that's not likely to happen in my lifetime, I'll just have to enjoy that weather vicariously through those of you who shared their own experiences with me on Facebook!
