Aloha, all!
Today is the birthday of one of my online friends, Loni. She runs the challenges at the online group, VC Rocks! (They're doing a blog hop in which I'm participating this weekend, and I've written an explanation of the group as part of my post for that hop – so check back on Saturday!)
Because it is her birthday, Loni decided that this week's challenge would be to make a birthday card using the colors in Stampin' Up!'s Brights Collection of Colors. Well, as I happen really to love that set of colors, I jumped right in with my project!
And there at the bottom are the colors that I used! I actually used those Stampin' Write Markers to color in the cake before I stamped on the Whisper White Card Stock. From left to right, the colors are Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Daffodil Delight. The cake and the "celebrate" sentiment are both from the stamp set, Embellished Events.
With the word, "embellish," in play, I decided I needed some embellishments for this card as well as those bright colors. The Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon includes two of the colors I'd already used, so I cut a piece each of the Real Red and Daffodil Delight ribbon. Originally, that was going to be it for the embellishments. But once I photographed the card, I thought I needed just a bit more. So out came the brand new Candy Dots (have I mentioned how much I love them?!) to embellish the central sentiment layer. That layer, by the way, is made up of two punches: I punched the stamped layer with the Word Window Punch, and the mat with the Modern Label Punch. Those two are made for each other!
So Happy Birthday, Loni! I hope it was the best!!!

I love this card Robin! I may just have to CASE it! I'm Pinning it for sure!
