A Bit of Throwback Thursday!

January 22, 2015 by Robin

Aloha, all!

"Aloha" is filled with just a bit of cheer for me and my husband this month, as we finally are getting our house ready for a move back in 5 or 6 weeks.  Yes, the lava is still out there and still threatens to cross the road that links us to the rest of our island and the world.  BUT the lava is moving slowly, and no one can seem to predict what it is going to do.  So we're taking our chances and moving back home – our home and OUR garden!

To get ready for the move, we decided to take the opportunity to paint the inside of the house – what better time to do that when most of our furniture is in another house!  The sad part for me is that I have had to remove all the old Stampin' Up! Decor Elements images from our walls.

Were you around in the stamping community when Stampin' Up! sold its own line of Vinyl images?  I LOVED them!  I hopped right on that bandwagon, and had decorations all over my house.  I even left the Christmas hanging ornament images up all year because just a bit of a different ribbon accenting them made them work well in any season.

But my favorite vinyl images were the Inspire, Create and Share images, with their Stampin' Up! definitions.  I accented each of them with flowers and had them where anyone who entered my Craft Room would see them.  On the fourth wall, next to a bookcase, I even accented a photo collage of me and my sister with a Decor Elements Hostess set.

Sigh!  But now they're gone.  Gone but not forgotten as they now appear in one of my first 2015 Project Life Pages.  What a fun Project Life project this was!

As you can see, there are not any specific Project Life cards or accents in this page.  Eventually there may be.  But for now I just wanted to get these pictures cropped and put in a page.  In fact, that's what I'm doing with all my pictures so far this year.  I made a "resolution" to keep track of this year as it contains a significant birthday for me, and I'd like to look back on the year to see what I've made of it.

So first things first – get the pictures into an album, with some basic accents (the Melon Mambo mat for the smaller 3" x 4" pockets) and at least one journaling card (I made this one up myself with a picture from an old catalog).  Down the road, when I have some more free time, I'll glitz the pages up a bit!

For now – memories are captured!

Robin Messenheimer

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
