Welcome Baby Luca!

September 16, 2011 by Robin

Aloha, all!

This weekend, our Duplicate Bridge club is being introduced to the new baby of one of our members.  We're going to welcome Baby Luca with a gift from the club, including this fun pocket-sized Accordion Fold Album to use to show off baby pictures.

Album Front

You've seen me show off this album style on a couple of occasions.  In fact, I was just looking over my introduction to the tutorial for the album and found that my husband had said last Valentine's Day that this was a great gift for just about any occasion.  And it's just perfect as a little baby gift!

     Inside Album

The nice thing about this album is that you can make what I'm showing off here with just one sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" card stock!  Of course, I added some Designer Series Paper and used a bit more card stock for the "photo corners," but it's still a very economical album to make – AND QUICK!

For today's album, I used Marina Mist Card Stock, and paper from the Designer Series Paper set, Nursery Nest.  This paper set features some primarily blue (Marina Mist), pink (Blushing Bride) and green (Pear Pizzazz) prints, with a sprinkling of Perfect Plum for its colors.  About those photo corners:  As you know (if you use Stampin' Up! products exclusively, as I do) Stampin' Up! retired its Photo Corners punch this past year.  But they just added a 1" Square Punch, which is what I used as the basis for my photo corners.  I punched some Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, and Marina Mist 1" squares, cut them on the diagonal, snipped out a triangle on the diagonal, and voila!  I had photo corners!

Outside of Album

To decorate the front of the album, I tied on some Marina Mist Scallop Dots Ribbon, added some Marina Mist lettering which I cut using my Sizzix Big Shot and the Decorative Strip Die, Naturally Serif.  I added a strip of the ribbon on the back, too, to tie the whole look together.  I punched the little flower in the upper right corner of the front with the Boho Blossoms Punch and added a Pear Pizzazz Glimmer Brad as a fun accent.

I have a one-page tutorial for this Simple Accordion Fold album right here on my blog!  I hope you'll enjoy using it the next time you need a quick and easy "occasion" gift!  Next week I'll show off the Money Card Holder that we're going to use to present the gift to Luca's mom and dad at next Sunday's bridge game.  I'll have a tutorial for that, too!  Be sure to keep an eye out for it!

Just love this album!!! The colors are fun, and I like how there is room for nice size photo on each page. Thanks for the chance to win blog candy. I think this would be a great little album to showcase Christmas photos.

I think an album like this would be perfect to put a few of the special photos from my daughter's wedding in.
    Your album is beautiful!

How sweet and adorable is this–and how much more so will it be with Baby Luca's pictures?!
The glimmer brad flower looks kinda like a sunflower, which reminded me of my mom's 80th birthday coming up.  (She's from Kansas.)  I just got the Sunflower stamp to make the invitations. . . a coordinating album like this would be a delightful gift!

There aren't anymore stops?  Oh heavens no.  I have enjoyed this hop so much.  I love your book and hope I have time to make it before baby Graham (a friend at work) comes.  This would be absolutely perfect.  Thanks mam.

    OMG Robin!!!
    This is so adorable!
this would make a great gift to present to someone who has just learned that their adoption process is being finalized and that they WILL be bringing home a child.  I have a friend whose daughter just got the announcement and I've been trying to figure out what I could give to her other than a Congrats card.  This album is just perfect!!!!

Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us.

Since I'm just getting my business rolling from a hobbiest to a real business, I think this would be a great album to put pictures in of Stampin' Up! projects that could highlight classes I'm offering – including a class for the album itself.  I'm actually participating in two craft fairs over the next two months for the first time – the album could advertise my classes and a class itself!

Robin,  This album could be used for any occasion.  It would make a perfect hostess gift.  A perfect gift to take to someone home when visiting..  I need one for my sister-in-law who just became a new grandmother.

This is just so cute.  The woman who cuts my hair (shhh, she also colors it) had a baby recently.  I just have not done a good job on one I tried to make and already ripped it up.  Your tutorial may help me out.  Otherwise, I found some photos of my mom's brothers who have all passed away.  This might be a neat idea for me to make something like this for my cousins featuring their uncles in uniform.  I am sure some of my cousins have  not seen some of these photos.  This would be easy to mail and could be embelished with all kinds of fun things.  So many ideas and not much time!  Thanks for the help!

Wow, this turned out wonderful and i am sure they will love it.  So nice of you to do a scrapbook for them.  I would do pictures of my Dad who passed away Jan.  18th, 2010.  I miss him so much and his sense on humor, Dad was a person anyone could come to and was loved by so many.  Always there when you needed him even if it was to just talk.  He collected antique cars and I used to help him clean and wax them

What occasion wouldn't be fitting for such an awesome album? Hmmmm…. can't think of one because it would be great for anything. I'm making mini albums for my two brothers and two sisters for Christmas and will put old pictures and other memorabilia I found in a box at my parents' house in them. I think this album would be a great way to show all the dogs and cats my daughter and son-in-law have fostered and adopted.

    Robin,
I love this!!!  What a great, fun, easy idea for a priceless gift!!  We had two nieces and a nephew born last month – so it was fun for me to see a baby thing, as I have lots of new babies photos to scrap, and gifts to make.

What a great album. It would make a great engagement gift. I started a small album for my kids when they got married – started with taste testing, gown selection, and little things along the way to the big day. Sometimes people are so busy that they enjoy looking back to see what happened.  It's also a great teacher gift. SO many options. Thanks for sharing your wonderful idea and the chance to win this blog candy.
