Aloha, all!
Finally, earlier this week, our new furniture arrived. Hooray, I am no longer living out of a suitcase! It really wasn’t as bad as all that – we travel on occasion, and I often find myself digging around in suitcases when we’re just spending an overnight somewhere. But it’s nice to have a dresser.
Even nicer is having furniture that is just right for our apartment and our style of living. We’re not talking elegant here, but we are talking tropical. After all, we do live Hawai’i, and the furniture that was in our apartment during the time we rented it was definitely NOT tropical. But the new stuff is.
Here’s a photo of the front part of our living room, which I took to make sure that the wall picture on the right shows up a bit. For now, that’s the only picture on a wall in the place. I’ll be fixing that over the next couple of weeks. But the point of this picture is that, not only was it already in the apartment when we moved in, but it also goes really well with the fabric we picked for our furniture. So we decided to keep it.
A problem is that it survived 10 years of short-term renters and obviously had been moved around enough that it ended up with scrapes all over the dark frame. With everything else we’ve been buying, I didn’t want to reframe this picture. Besides, I kind of liked the frame. So I decided to try to cover up the dings.
Stampin’ Up!’s Soft Suede ink to the rescue! Here’s one corner of the frame before my somewhat professional restoration work.
And the same corner after liberal application of Soft Suede ink, using a Stampin’ Write Marker.
Nice job if I say so myself!
Now off to do something with my markers in the way of paper crafting. Work on the apartment decoration can wait until next week!
