Aloha, all!

Today’s tutorial is a quick and easy way to tie a knot on the front of a greeting card.  For this "friend" greeting card, I used the following supplies.  Click here for the tutorial on tying the knot on the front of the card.

Stamp Set:

  • All Holidays

Card Stock:

  • Very Vanilla – 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" and 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", folded into a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card
  • Not Quite Navy – 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
  • Riding Hood Red – 4" x 5-1/4"

Designer Series Paper:

  • Bella Bleu

Accessories:

  • Riding Hood Red Striped 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon – 2 pieces:  6-1/2" – 7" long; 5" – 6" long
  • Sticky Strip
  • Not Quite Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Sizzix Texturz Plates: Stampin’ Up! Backgrounds I

Instructions:

  1. Stamp the saying, "My Good, Kind & Wonderful Friend" in Not Quite Navy on the lower right corner of the Very Vanilla Card Stock.
  2. Emboss the Very Vanilla Card Stock using the Sizzix Big Shot and the Texturz Plate.  (Don’t have one!  Give me a call and I’ll demonstrate for you!)
  3. Layer the Very Vanilla Card Stock onto the Not Quite Navy Card Stock using Sticky Strip.  The reason I use Sticky Strip and not SNAIL is to make sure that I don’t flatten out any of the embossed texture.  (See Note below.)
  4. Attach the ribbon and tie the knot.  Instructions for the knot are here.
  5. Layer this onto the Riding Hood Red Card Stock.
  6. Layer all of this onto the Designer Series Paper
  7. Finally, attach your completed card front onto the folded Very Vanilla card and send it to a favorite friend!

(Note: This is different from the card shown above; for the above card, I wrapped the ribbon (the following step) around just the Very Vanilla layer, not around both the Very Vanilla and Not Quite Navy Layer.  I like it better wrapped around both layers, but I like the way I stamped the above card better.  Can’t have everything all the time!)
