To Fold a Folder–Project 1!
Always a glutton for punishment, this year I signed up to participate not just in one swap that required the making of multiple cards, but in THREE such swaps!
The swaps involved making a bag or box or folder that contained several coordinating cards. OK–the plus side is that there are 10 other people in each of the swaps, so I’ll head home from the Stampin’ Up! Convention with lots of ideas to show my customers this fall!
My first project used a technique that I first learned on Split Coast Stampers, a Diagonal Double Pocket Card. But the pockets that result from following those instructions were too small for the Note Cards that I wanted to put in them. Not only that, the folds were in the reverse position from the position in which I wanted them for this project.
My project was a gate-fold folder, with the diagonal folds inside. Here are the instructions for the folder.
Folding the Inside Paper
Cut a piece of double-sided paper 11” wide x 9” long. Fold in half vertically and horizontally. Cut in from the bottom 11” side, along the fold, to the middle of the paper.
Next fold the lower right corner up diaonally–about 2".

Fold the bottom right section of the paper up so that the bottom edge meets the top edge.
Fold the bottom left section of the paper back behind the top left section so that the bottom edge meets the top edge; then fold the whole section down in the front so that the top edge meets the bottom edge. Place a piece of sticky strip along the bottom edge of the left section.
Finally, fold the entire left section over the right section so that the left edge meets the right edge. Once you have the edges where you want them, use the bone folder to sharpen the folds. Then open the last fold, remove the sticky trip, and close the folder to seal.
Putting the Folder Together.
Cut coordinating card stock 4-1/2” x 12”. Score 3” and 3-1/4” inches from each end (or 3”, 3-1/4”, 8-3/4”, and 9” from one end). Fold in on all folds.
Attach a piece of sticky strip to the back of the diagonally-folded section. You really don’t need much–this stuff really holds!
Attach the diagonal section to the inside of the card stock, and the basic folder is done!
Decorate the outside of the folder, including some ribbon to tie the folder closed. The Note Cards found in Stampin’ Up! Catalog fit perfectly in this folder!
