Kick it Up a Notch!

 Aloha, all!

Yesterday was a "stamp-a-stack" session in Robin’s Craft Room.  The whole premise behind "stamp-a-stack" is that you can get a lot of cards done in a short time period.  The idea is to have cards for the special holiday and not have to stress over them!  So last week and this week, we completed a stack of Valentine’s Day cards done so we’d have a bunch to send out.  We got ten done last week, and ten more done this week.

Now, that’s not 10 different cards.  But I did have 2 different cards for the group to make, with each person making 5 of each.  So the boredom level stayed reasonable.  Actually, last week, Lucy managed to get creative with the small number of elements I had cut and ready for her, and she had quite a few different designs.  See, creativity abounds even when you’re trying to keep things on simple!  That’s what Stampin’ Up!’s all about, after all–being creative!

This week I decided to go ahead with the two set designs, but to give each person a bit more material just in case they had time be be creative – and wanted to be creative.  This first card is a fun, although fairly simple, card.  I promised that this week I’d use punches.  This card uses three of them:  The Full Heart Punch, the Heart to Heart Punch, and the Modern Label Punch.  We used the Full Heart Punch to make a window in the Real Red Card stock that was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and  "looked" through to the glittery paper from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper.  We used the Heart to Heart punch to punch images we had stamped using Real Red Classic Ink with one of the stamps from the set, Love You Much.  Those are the hearts on the right edge of the Full Heart Punched window.  Finally, we used the Modern Label PUnch at the bottom as a window through to some Very Vanilla card stock stamped with a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Top it off with some 1/4" Pretty In Pink grosgrain ribbon, attach it to a Pretty In Pink greeting card, and you have a Valentine’s Card.  And it’s quick!

But then I was thinking that maybe the ladies would like a bit more. So I included some extra Very Vanilla Card stock and had the new Clear Mount Rubber Stamp Set, I {Heart} Hearts, available if they wanted to use it.  With this, some of us stamped an image with some Pretty in Pink Classic Ink, and punched it out with the Heart to Heart punch.  So there are some extra hearts to kick the card up a notch and balance everything out a bit.  Nice!

Tomorrow, I’m going to add even some more to this card to make the card that I’m going to send out to a very special person!  It might even be YOU!!

Another Easy Valentine

Aloha, all!

We did, indeed, get all the valentine cards I’d planned for today’s class done – in record time!  What makes the stamping part so easy is those clear blocks and the labels on the clear mounted stamps that let you know exactly where you’re stamping.  There was not one stamp that had to be redone because something was crooked or off center.  I am so hooked on these!

The card I’m posting this evening is the second of the two cards for today’s class.  It uses the same wonderfully glittery paper, Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  We used the same stamp from the Well Scripted stamp set, stamping the greeting over a heart from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set.  I just love the way the curve coming from the "v" wraps around the top left curve of the heart.  I got this idea from a sister demonstrator but (unfortunately) I can’t remember who it was.  If anyone can tell me, I’ll be sure to include here name here.  It’s a beautiful use of the two stamps.  Another CASEd idea is to put the two pieces of punched contrasting colors strips on the right and left side of the central Designer Series Paper section.  Maybe my brain will clear later tonight and I’ll remember who gave me the ideas that I ended up putting together for this card.

Colors are Very Vanilla, Real Red and Pretty in Pink.  Next week’s Valentine’s colors are going to be in the purple family.  But I’ve still got a few more ideas for the red and pink and will be showing them off between now and then.

Oh–and all of this is fron the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog!  Just let me know if you need your very own copy!!

New Valentine Designs with New Products!

Aloha, all!

I see that, overnight and with much surprise, some errant blog posts have magically appeared!  If you’re seeing double, it’s not your fault!  Computer programs have a way of providing us all with some excitement in our lives, whether we like it or not.  I’ll be trying to clean up a bit when I have some free time in the next few days.

But now for the real reason I’m putting fingers to keyboard this evening!  I’ve just finished a couple of Valentine cards made using brand new products in Stampin’ Up!’s newest catalog, the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog.  And I can hardly wait for my next shipment of these products to appear on my doorstep – which will be tomorrow!  Hooray!

My absolute favorite of all the new stuff?  Oh, man, I’m having trouble with that.  Well, let’s say that, for today, my absolute favorite is the fabulous new Designer Series Specialty Paper, Sending LoveIT’S GOT GLITTER!  Oh, my, to have this sparkling all over the place!  Each sheet of paper in this set has a side with glitter and a side without.  Guess which side is my favorite?

The cards that I’m showing off today and tomorrow are both for a "Stamp a Stack" class.  Cards for this class have to be easy to make because we’re going to make 5 of each in a short period of time.  So no complicated folds or layering or embellishment.  But they have to be Stampin’ Up! classy nonetheless!

Today’s card not only uses the new papers from the Occasions Mini, but it also uses one of the newest stamp sets, Well Scripted and a brand new Stampin’ Up! Embosslits Die, Heart of Hearts.  I keep rubbing my finger over the wonderful texture of the embossed heart.  The colors in this card are Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip.  Gotta have Chocolate when you have Valentine’s Day!

I’m going to include the measurements for all the pieces in this card in my next Newsletter, which is the first in a series of 4 newsletters that will feature Valentine Cards and instructions for making them.  There will be two cards featured in each newsletter.  Just click on "Sign Up for my Free E-Mail Newsletter!" at the top of the column to the right and you’ll get those instructions, too!

More new products to show off tomorrow!

A Wedding Greeting for My Son and Daughter-in-Law (Finally!)

Aloha, all!

Towards the end of June, our son called and said that he and his fiancée were going to get married–like the NEXT DAY!  And I didn’t even know his friend, Sonya, had graduated to the rank of fiancée.  Now she was going to be my daughter-in-law!  But I have to tell you that I could not have been happier – unless they would have had a formal wedding, where I could have played mother of the groom properly.  But that was not to be.

In the midst of everything, we had some travel planned, my husband became ill on the trip; he got well and I went off to the Stampin’ Up! convention; he became ill again while I was at convention, and – all of a sudden it’s November!!  Now, it’s not like I haven’t been paying attention to them – I have visited them on the mainland and we text about every day.  But I never sat down and made them a card.  And making cards is what I do!!!

The reason that I finally made this card today is that, while there won’t be a formal wedding in the United States, my son and his bride will be celebrating next month with a wedding in Indonesia which her father and stepmother will be giving them.  Unfortunately, with uncertainly about my husband’s health (we think the docs have fixed him up now, though!), I couldn’t plan for us to go that far.  So I thought I’d send a little wedding gift inside a handmade card.  With all the greeting card design challenges going on this week, I decided to pick one of them and use it for the wedding card.  (I have no worries about my son seeing it early as I don’t think he ever visits my blog.)

This challenge is from the Stamping 411 group, who do a great job in coming up with designs for everyone to use.  What fun!  Thanks, ladies!  And the card will go out in the mail on Monday.

The colors for the card are based on the Designer Series Paper, Thoroughly ModernRose Red and Bermuda Bay (one of this year’s In Colors).  I stamped the heart from the stamp set, Love You Much with Rose Red and colored in some of the flowers with Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write markers.  The greeting is from the Level 3 Hostess Stamp Set, Kind and Caring Thoughts.  Embellishments include three small Clear Rhinestone Brads and some 1/4" Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon.  A really fun and simple card to make!

Love You Much Bundle Discount Still Available!

Aloha, all!

OK–I’ve shown you quite a few projects using the Love You Much Bundle.  I love the paper, punch, and stamp set SO MUCH that I’ll be certain to have more samples for you as the next few weeks progress.

This card uses the Carousel Notes that are one of the featured sets of note cards sold by Stampin’ Up!  The Carousel Notes were introduced almost a year ago in the 2008 Occasions Mini Catalog, and have been popular ever since.  There is so much you can do with these round scalloped note cards with their wonderful square brown envelopes.  This sample doesn’t do anything "fancy" with the note cards, but I still love its simplicity!

Let me know if you’d like a sample of one of these Carousel Notes!  I’ll be happy to send you one so you can see how versatile they are!  Just call (808.854.6145) or e-mail me, and I’ll put one in the mail to you right away!

Back to Some Card Crafting!

Aloha, all!

My stamp club met this week, and we made quite a few cards using materials from the Love You Much Bundle special (it’s almost over–don’t delay if you want to order this bundle at 20% off–see the link to the right of this post!)

This card is one that features the Love You Much bundle, but is NOT a Valentine Card!  One concern I’ve heard is that this is a set that’s only useful one time of the year (Valentine’s Day).  But it’s great for many events during any year!  I envision this card being a greeting for a Wedding Anniversary.  It could even be used for a Wedding Shower or a Wedding Gift Card!  The card uses the paper (Candy Lane), punch (Heart to Heart) and Stamp Set (Love You Much) that are included in the bundle.

If you’d like to order this bundle, you can order it online any time of the day or night, any day of the week (I believe that’s called 24/7?).  If you have any problems with your order from my website, you can always call (808.854.6145) or e-mail me, and I’ll be happy to trouble shoot any ordering problems.

Don’t wait–the 20% discount ends Sunday!

Another Quick Sample from the Love You Much Bundle!

Aloha, all!

I have just GOT to get those Christmas cards mailed!  But here’s another quick project with the new Love You Much Bundle–a 20% off Stampin’ Up! Promotion that begins on December 23rd!

I just love the new punch with the three little hearts!  I have been wanting a Stampin’ Up! heart punch FOREVER!!  And now I own one!  You can too, when you order the new bundle.  Remember, if you order on the 23rd–the first day it’s available for you to order–you can also get free shipping if your order totals more than $70!  So Tuesday’s the day to take a break from all those Christmas promotions and give yourself an early Valentine’s Day gift!

Once the bundle is available, I’ll let you know all the products I used in this and in yesterday’s projects.  And by then I may have the Christmas cards mailed (have you heard this before) and I can spend some time designing something a bit more serious!

What Comes After Christmas??

Well, yes, there’s New Year’s Day!  But there’s also one of my favorite times of the year to make greeting cards in all shapes and sizes!

IT’S VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

Oh, I know.  I don’t even have all those Christmas cards mailed out.  But I just have to share with you that there is going to be a sneak preview of some new Valentines products beginning next week!  This new promotion is yet a great Stampin’ Up! bundle, the LOVE YOU MUCH BUNDLE!  The bundle includes Designer Series Paper, a Stamp Set, and a brand new punch!  Click here to see the flyer advertising this new promotion!

In fact, the first day of the preview promotion is the last day of Free Shipping!  If you’ve been thinking of trying to take advantage of the Free Shipping, but haven’t wanted to invest in more Holiday products right now (there is a $70 minimum order, after all), think about adding this bundle to your order!

I have the bundle in my hot little hands, and took some time out of my Christmas card mailing project to come up with a couple of quick ideas to show off.  I thought I was going to have to wait until next week to show samples; but there’s a brand new Stampin’ Up! policy that lets us let YOU in on promotions earlier!

For those of you on the list for my Newsletter, I’ll be posting an offer for a free class using the new bundle if you purchase it before January 3rd.  If you want to be in on that, just let me know (phone: 808.854.6145 or e-mail) to add you to my newsletter mailing list, and you’ll hear more from me next week!

I’ll post another card showing off more of the stamps tomorrow!

Aloha!

Robin
