One of the new stamp sets in the 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog (a link is at the right) is, "Eat, Drink & Be Scary."  I have to have everything Halloween, so bought it at the first chance.  (It’s stock number 111764 if you’re ordering online.)  This first project that I made with it was inspired by a challenge by a member of one of my online groups.  Michelle Gray challenged us to find a project on the Joanns.com website and make our own project using Stampin’ Up! products. 

This little scary guy I made with Stampin’ Up!’s wide oval punch (112082), with legs made using the scallop edge punch (112091), instructions below.  Papers include two of the designs from the Ghostly Greetings Designer Series Paper (112463) and Kiwi Kiss, Pumpkin Pie, and Basic Black card stock (111353, 105117, and 102851).  I made the eyes with the 1/2" circle punch (104390) and the mouth with the small oval punch (107304).  A couple of black brads from the vintage brads (109109) complete his beady little eyes!

Here are instructions for getting the squiggly legs using the scallop edge punch:

Card stock (CS) any length by 1/2" wide.  I used orange here so you could actually see what I’m talking about.  Black just didn’t work!

Place the CS in the scallop edge punch, lining up the bottom with the bottom of the metallic scallop marks and cut all the way across the length of your CS.  In this photo, I’ve already cut some of it–you can see the scallops facing in towards the back of the punch..

Once you have the strip cut, turn it over and place it back in the punch with the scallops facing out.  To begin, line up the rounded part of each scallop on the paper with the pointed part of the scallop design on the punch.

Then push the CS towards the back until the straight edge is just above the scallop design on the punch.  Begin punching!   When you’re finished, cut the legs to the length needed.  The legs on this little guy are about 3 inches long.
