Just a Bit More!
Aloha, all!
Yesterday we looked at two different versions of the same basic card. Today we’ll look at the final card I decided to make with this design. The operative word with this card is "texture."
Aha, you thought I’d say "bling"! But bling is texture. And so is texture made by using some of the Sizzix Texturz Plates offered by Stampin’ Up!
This is the same basic design as yesterday’s card. But here’s the Texture!
- I added Heat and Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to both images stamped to be used with the Heart to Heart Punch.
- I texturized both pieces of the Real Red Card Stock with one of the Sizzix Texturz Plates from the set, Stampin’ Up! Backgrounds I.
- I added three red brads from the Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads set, two on either side of the greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, and one on the Pretty in Pink stamped image from I {Heart} Hearts.
- Finally, instead of the 1/4" Pretty in Pink Grosgrain Ribbon with the knot, I added the Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon and tied it in a bow.
These three cards have the same basic design. But the last one has a lot more that’s special about it!
Yes, I made a bunch of the other two cards. But I made only one of this card. And it’s going to be sent out to a very special person–YOU!!! All you have to do is be the first person who e-mails me a request for this card, and it’s going to be YOURS!!!
Honolulu Regional – Part IV – A project I just had to copy!
Aloha, all!
One of the "Workshop Wow" demonstrators at the recent Honolulu Regional conference showed a sample with a stamp set that one of my stamp club members, Barbara, just ordered. It arrived while I was in Honolulu; today I called her to ask if I could please use it for one of the projects for next week’s Stamp Club Meeting. As she’s in the midst of moving from a rental house to the home she and her husband have been building, she seemed happy not to have something else at her house that she would have to move (lucky me!).
The project was a pop-up card, and I had actually promised my club a pop-up card at the March meeting. So all the stars came together, and I (shamelessly) copied one of the projects from the Workshop demonstration. It would be much cooler to see this in a video (pop-ups really cry to be shown in motion!). But video is out of the question this week with all that I’m doing. So here’s the card without motion:
First the outside of the card. The stamp set is "Just Buzzin’ By" which features bees, hives, honey pots and two lines of text. Just the cutest bees! If you keep bees, you’re not going to be pleased either with the cuteness or with the old fashioned hive pictured here. But those of us who are into cute and not bees I’m sure just love it. Note that the wings on the little critters are a bit on the sparkly side. For the front of the card, I used two-way glue and Dazzling Diamonds. The yellow color is Summer Sun, and is it bright!
The inside is the really clever part. When you open the card, the bee hive pops up and the two little bees on the top, attached by way of little plastic strips (cut from transparency film) just bounce around as cute as can bee (sorry).
I colored the bee hive using Blender Pens and Classic Ink pads, first applying a layer of Barely Banana, then a bit of More Mustard, and finally some accents with Close to Cocoa. Again, the bees have wings of Dazzling Diamonds. For these little critters, I used Heat and Stick Powder. This way my stamp club can see two different ways to use the same glitter product.
And wouldn’t you like to have one of these cards?! Barbara will certainly let me use this set for the next couple of weeks to make gifts for my customers. If you order at least $50 online, not only will you get a FREE Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set or paper or ribbon bundle, but you’ll get a Bee card from me, with the instructions for making it!
This offer is good until March 4th. The reason I’m extending it over the weekend is that, beginning on March 1st, you will be able to pre-order several sets from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Yes, even though the mini catalog doesn’t officially debut until April 1st, sets with an Easter theme will be available for purchase as early as March 1st! And you are still eligible for a FREE CATALOG, until Stampin’ Up! has given away 22,000 copies of the catalog.
So this is a great time to think about placing that online order! If you need any help in placing an online order, or if you wish to place an order directly with me, don’t hesitate to call (808.854.6145) or e-mail me; and I’ll get right on it!
Happy Stamping!

It’s More Fun With Stampin’ Up!
Aloha, all!
It’s very hard for me to browse a magazine rack and not pick up the latest issue of everything stamping and scrapbooking. I know, I know–only on occasion and in very special magazines do I see a project that is completely made of Stampin’ Up! products. But the ideas in ALL of these magazines are just priceless when you just need a shot of creativity juice!
My latest foray into a bookstore to select "just a few" magazines resulted in my purchasing the November 2008 issue of CardMaker Magazine. Yes, it’s lovely here in Hawaiian paradise. But we get the magazine issues late, even in the book stores. Sigh.
Yesterday, as I browsed through my latest purchase, I spotted a card and my brain instantly turned it into a Stampin’ Up! project. If you have the magazine, the card that inspired today’s Christmas Card is on page 58 (don’t think I can print a copy of the original here without infringing on copyright, even if it is a blog). This is my Stampin’ Up! take on the card.
The stamp set throughout is Punch Pals (109489) which is fast becoming one of my favorites for this Christmas season. The papers are Baja Breeze, Read Red, and Whisper White. The snowman from Punch Pals is mounted on a scallop punched with the Sizzix Die, Scallop Circle #2 (113469). That is mounted on a square of Baja Breeze on which I stamped my VersaMark pad and added Heat and Stick Powder (100625) and Dazzling Diamonds (102023). The sparkle is outstanding (if I do say so myself!).
The finishing touches are some white Little Felt Flurries (113697–and, yes, I am starting to run out of them!), Baja Breeze Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (111375) and a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Ski Slope pack (112994). The "Let it snow" punch is from the Curly Label Punch Bundle (112966).
Luscious, don’t you think!!! Want to make it yourself?? You can order all of these items by using the item number I’ve included throughtout this post on my online ordering site. Or just call (808.965.1391) or e-mail me and I can do the ordering for you!
Happy Glittering and Stamping!

Felt Flurry Fun Finale!!

I promise! Next week we’ll get into some of the OTHER wonderful products that Stampin’ Up! has provided for us for our Holiday Card and Gift Making pleasure! But I have to show off the last of my Little Felt Flurry Flourishes (don’t you just love alliteration?!)
This is the second of the "Trios" that I made with the smallest of the Little Felt Flurries. This time I set the Baja Blue Flurries against some Whisper White card stock, and I used Designer Series Paper from the Ski Slope set (112994), all with a Night of Navy accent.
What really sets the Felt Flurries off is the Dazzling Diamonds glitter (102023) that I applied before I affixed them to the card stock. Just a little bit of Tombow Adhesive (110755) dotted on, then a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds, and they’re, well, um, Dazzling! I did let the adhesive/glitter dry before I glued them onto the card stock.
The stamp is from the Level 1 Hostess Set, Best Yet. Now I know why Stampin’ Up! gave this set it’s name! I think it’s the Best level 1 hostess set Yet! You, too, can get this set with just a $150 workshop or order. Even if you’re not in my neighborhood, get a few friends together to look over our catalog (you can download a copy by clicking to the right), then just put in an order online! Or I can place the order for you to make sure everyone gets the correct shipping and sales tax costs applied to her (or his) order, and then have it shipped directly to you! Just send me an e-mail or give me a call (808.854.6145)
Hey–December is only 2 weeks away!!! Times a-wastin’!
Felt Flurry Fun!
With my Thanksgiving cards and decorations all made, I can now turn most of my attention to getting ready for the Christmas Season!
When the Holiday Mini-Catalog first came out, I shared this card with you. It uses the Little Felt Flurries (113697) and the Heard from the Heart Stamp Set (111644), along with the Holiday Happenings Designer Series Paper, featured as a Level 3 Hostess gift in the Fall/Winter Catalog and Not Quite Navy card stock to set it off. Finally, I added some Dazzling Diamonds to make everything sparkle!
Once I started using the Little Felt Flurries, it was hard to stop! So I’ll be sharing more of these little lovelies as the week goes on. Come back and see!! And if you just can’t wait to get your hands on some Felt Flurries, just call (808.854.6145) or e-mail me and I’ll order some for you.
