Aloha, all!
Wow, can you believe a project from me two days in a row! Actually, I'm planning for a lot more than that, but one step at a time is a good start.
Besides being December 2nd, this is also the day for the biweekly SUO Challenges Design Team to show off their projects. This week the theme is "Tag, You're It!" We were supposed to make a project that involved either a tag for a gift or decoration or a Stampin' Up! tag shape on a greeting card.
As you can see, I chose to include a tag on a Christmas Card. For the central element in this card, I made a tag with the Tag Topper Scalloped Punch. The size cardstock needed for this punch just happened to be the size of the stamped layer in one of the layout sketches in my 2010 Card Layout eBook – and that made it a perfect fit both for my December projects AND the SUO Challenge!
Not only did the Tag Topper Punch work for this, so did the stamped designs from the Get Your Santa On Stamp Set in the Stampin' Up! 2014 Holiday Catalog. There are three separate stamps here, but all three seem to make a good design. It's especially easy to arrange photopolymer stamps on an acrylic block when stamping to include all three in one design. For this design, I used Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, and just a touch of Hello Honey Classic Inks. Then I formed the mat for the central image from Pear Pizzazz and Real Red Cardstock.
For the main background for this card, I used a piece of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock which I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Finally I finished the card with another mat of Real Red Cardstock and a bow made with the Real Red 3/8" Satin Woven Ribbon.
As I'm going along with my projects for the month, I'm trying to pick out which projects would be most fun duplicating (the 20 cards I'll get done before mailing time is over for Christmas are not going to be NEARLY enough!). This is one of those cards, especially as I can arrange all three of the stamps on one acrylic block and just stamp away. Looks like it took a lot of work, but not so much, huh?
If you've got an idea for a tag in a project, I hope you'll consider entering it in the current SUO Challenge. What a way to make a card or decoration you'd have to make anyway – show it off for all who visit the challenge blog to see!
