Yesterday I was browsing through an educational website for Stamping Business Owners, and I came across a tutorial on how to use the website, Cooler.co (yes, "co", not "com"). Using that website you can get ideas for color combinations that work in a variety of situations. In this case, I decided to try to see what color combos I might find using Stampin' Up!'s Dapper Denim color.
As I went throught the website quickly, I noticed one color that looked a lot like the Stampin' Up! color, Rose Red. This is NOT a color combo I would ever have picked myself, mostly because Rose Red sits unused in my Craft Room most of the time. Nonetheless, I took the challenge, pulled out some Stampin' Up! Sizzix Thinlits, and off I went! The "hello" is from the Hello You Thinlits set and the floral oval is from the Timeless Tags Thinlits set. This was a zip-zip-zip project, so I didn't add much in the way of embellishments. I'm constitutionally incapable of making a card that I really like without some kind of embellishment. So I quickly snatched one of the Metal Rimmed Pearls from my pearl stash, popped it into the middle of the oval design, and there it was!
Sometime in the next week or so when I have more time, I will definitely go back to this website to find some more color combos – using more than just two colors. But for now, I thought I'd share the basic concept and encourage you to use this website if you are having trouble coming up with a good combo for a color you want to use. It may just work for you!
