Ornament from a Hostess/Stampin’ Rewards Set
It’s Aloha Friday on Hawai’i’s Big Island, home of Robin’s Craft Room. But I’m not going to be slacking off with my Christmas ornaments because there’s just so much that I want to do with my Stampin’ Up! materials this year. It’s such a great year to be using Stampin’ Up! papers and inks and embellishments–there’s just so much of it and I want to use it ALL!!
I made today’s Christmas ornament using a Level 2 Hostess set from the Fall/Winter 2008 Stampin’ Up catalog. The set is called Deer Friends, and you, too, can get this set–for free!!–just by ordering (by yourself or with some friends) just $300 worth of Stampin’ Up! products Besides the hostess gift, you’ll earn at least $35 worth of Stampin’ Up! products to supplement your order!
ALERT!!! You can get the same free stamp sets and extra free merchandise by ordering online as you can if you hold a workshop in your home! The "hostess benefits" are called "Stampin’ Rewards." Be sure to pay attention to how much you order so you don’t miss out on these freebies by just a few dollars!
Deer Friends includes 8 stamps in the circular format shown in these three. The stamped images work well with both the 1-1/4" Circle Punch (104403) and the 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401). In this ornament, I used the larger punch. Behind the punched element is a chipboard scallop circle that I made using the Sizzix and the Scallop Circle #2 Sizzix die (113469). I covered both sides of the Scallop Circle with card stock to match the ink that I used in stamping the image. All three of these colors are in the Bold Brights color family–Glorious Green, Real Red and Brilliant Blue. This is a great color family for Christmas. And it’s easy to get an assortment of both the Card Stock (105548 for an assortment of 8-1/2" x 11" card stock) and the inks (105550 for the Bold Brights Stampin’ Spots assortment). Believe me, you will have plenty of those pinks and reds left for Valentine’s Day, too!
But I’m getting ahead of myself–let’s finish the ornament. To make the Deer Friends images (stamped on Whisper White card stock) stand out, I cut several blank circles and layered them behind the stamped image, adhering each later to the next with SNAIL adhesive (104332). I adhered the card stock (cut with the Sizzix) to the chipboard (also cut with the Sizzix). I used some SNAIL adhesive to attach a length of Gold Elastic Cord (109867) to each die cut set, then added the stamped image set to the die cut set. I did the same on the other side of the ornament. (Both sides look the same.)
